Elder Care Consultant and End of Life Doula
For You and Your Family
Whether support is needed for yourself or a loved one, you have come to the right place. I can guide you through planning in advance, or a situation happening now. See below to schedule a consultation and we’ll get started.
Consultations
It is recommended to bring in doula support anytime after care needs increase, and especially after receiving a terminal diagnosis. As your doula I will provide holistic, compassionate support in the final chapter of life. This support can be for both the aging person, as well as their family. During the initial consultation goals will be identified and a plan will be formulated. The difference between elder care consult support, and doula support, is that elder care consultations are designed to prepare you ahead of time and doula support walks you through it when there. Elder care consultations are provided per session, whereas doula support is provided with an ongoing, regular basis.
Doula services include holding space for meaningful conversations and the processing of emotions; regular in person or telephone visits (depending on your need and comfort level) to provide emotional support, as a safety precaution, or for advocacy needs; providing resources and referrals; acting as an advocate and liaison when needed; care coordination; engaging in life review; creating a caregiving plan; providing respite for caregivers; meal support; logistical needs including necessary paperwork and the tying up of loose ends; expertise and support in navigating hospice; education on the death with dignity option and/or what to expect in the months, weeks, days, and hours leading up to a natural death; vigil planning and support (for the actively dying phase of the transition); and the after death plan.
While approaching the end of life can bring about a multitude of feelings, walking home is something we all must do. We can do it alone or we can invite others into that sacred space. I would be honored to accompany you on this walk; to hear you, to hold space for you, to guide you, to support you.
